Crafting with limited time, funds and patience!

I have no idea who to fully credit with this idea; I saw it originally on a forum I'm a member of but now can't find the thread so don't know who to thank! I've put a plea out and hope that whoever came up with the original idea will see it and own up (though they may be so horrified at my dodgy bodge that they refuse to acknowledge any responsibility at all!)

I'm quite pleased with the result; I picked an American-inspired theme as my mum loves the states and visits every 18 months or so, in fact the fabric I used is some of a lovely batch of fabrics she brought back 2 visits ago and the buttons are ones I've picked up here and there over the years; all mother of pearl.
From a thrift point of view; the heart button was a freebie that was attached to some ribbon and being given away as a perfume sampler when Clarins launched a fragrance a few years ago (I walked past the Clarins concession MANY times that day... then sent my mum out to do the same the next day!) the flower one was rescued from a very much past-it blouse and the round one, I believe, is from my granny's button bag (so was probably rescued from an article of clothing about 40 years ago!)

The wadding has been rescued from a cheapo cushion that died a bit of a death at the claws of my cat - couldn't rescue the cover itself, thought I might re-use the cushion insert and make a new cover but realised I have a PLETHORA of cushions and another one is the last thing I need! The wadding was perfect for this project though; waste not want not! :D

Fingers x-ed it'll be a hit; I've had quite a productive day, crafting-wise - made OH a father's day present of a series of 3 b&w photos of his little girl in each pic she's holding a sign ("I" a heart symbol and "dad") My mum's photoshopped them brilliantly so that the words/symbols on each sign are in red. I'm going to frame them up in three separate frames (cheap and cheerful clip frames from Wilkos with a black card mounting that I'll hand cut) and put them up in the kids' room on fathers' day (see how long it takes him to notice!)

OH's little girl and I also iced a slab of chocolate with I HEART DAD (another thrifty bargain; picked the kit up after mother's day reduced to pennies!) so it's been a fab day of lovely, cheap and recycled crafts!

Off to go and sit in the sun, have a barbeque, catch up on my hypnobirthing book and hope that the baby doesn't arrive tonight! Too busy!!!
